Dan Hurley says no to the Lakers to remain at UConn

Dan Hurley has decided to remain in Storrs, Connecticut as the Huskies head coach. ESPN reporting he rejected a deal that the Lakers have reported a deal worth $70 million for six years. Now the focus on UConn heading into the 2024-25 season with a chance for a three-peat, since John Wooden and UCLA won seven straight national championships from 1967 to 1973.

Last week, it was revealed that Hurley was the Lakers’ primary target in the team’s search for a new coach. The Lakers had also been connected to ESPN analyst and former player JJ Redick, but Hurley was reportedly the first choice from the beginning.

Hurley has been the face of college basketball for the past few seasons. He will resume contract talks with Connecticut. He will likely become one of college basketball’s highest paid coaches. Today was only a victory for UConn or The Big East, it was for college basketball and its fans. The potential of a dynasty will be happening in Storrs.
