The dreams of playing in the NBA are a few tip offs away for the G-League star Scoot Henderson.
It’s generally believed that the gifted guard playing for the G-League Ignite will go second, potentially even first overall in this year’s NBA draft. He had the chance to demonstrate his talent in the Rising Stars game on Friday, February 17 in Salt Lake City and he truly showcased his talent.
Henderson wasn’t the only G-League player to be a part of All-Star weekend. He was joined by seven other G-League players among the 28 emerging athletes competing in the contest. During his participation in the contest, he suffered a loss to Team Joakim in the semifinal round. He only put up four points, two assists, and two steals.
Henderson offered everyone viewing in the Vivint Arena and on T.V. a peek of what he can contribute to the NBA, despite the fact that his statistics didn’t exactly jump off the page.
Henderson afterward would discuss with the media, “It was a great experience running with those guys and running with a few of my teammates and just to be out there in that atmosphere, didn’t turn out how I wanted it to, but it was just fun to be there”.
Henderson has the chance to compete every night within the G-League. While playing for the Ignite Henderson may show his worth against athletes of the same caliber of future NBA stars. He seemed to have the opportunity to compete against numerous active NBA players on Friday, such as Josh Giddey, Evan Mobley, and Jalen Williams.
Although taking part in an exhibition game during All-Star Weekend is hardly a true representation of what it’s like to play in the NBA, Henderson found the events to be an incredible learning opportunity.
While with the Ignite, Henderson has demonstrated that he is all business this season.
The French center Victor Wembanyama is expected to be selected just ahead of the 19-year-old. The fact that he can score from almost anywhere and inspire his teammates to participate has made him a star on the floor this season.
Henderson is the right size to join the league right away. He excels as a team leader and has experienced a number of pivotal moments with the Ignite. Simply put, Henderson possesses all the qualities necessary to transform a team and the culture that surrounds the team, both on as well as off the court.
Henderson will shortly begin his journey to the NBA following two years with the Ignite, just over a month left in the regular season and it will be show time for him and his fans.
Henderson’s future is bright for him and a fantastic pickup for any team that scoops him up during the draft.
