Number 15 seed St. Peter’s eliminated second seed Kentucky 85-79 in overtime in which it is the program’s first NCAA Tournament win. Daryl Banks III scored a career-high 27 points with five 3-pointers, the Peacocks made 18 of 21 free throws and Doug Edert salted away the win with two late free throws and finished with 20 points.
The Peacocks will take on number 7 seed Murray State who defeated San Francisco in overtime on Saturday.
Oscar Tshiebwe had 30 points and 16 rebounds to lead Kentucky with his 16th consecutive double-double. While the Wildcats outscored St. Peter’s 23-18 on free throws, Kentucky shot just 65.7 from the field.
