Rick Pitino and the St John’s Red Storm looking to make a late season rally to dominate DePaul 104-77 to improve their record to 18-12. The Johnnies scored 54 points before halftime, their most in the first half of a conference game since the 1995-96 season.
Jordan Dingle and Chris Ledlum scored 19 points each to lead the Red Storm. DePaul end up losing their 18th straight game in which their record is 3-27 and 0-19 in Big East play. St. John’s completed a two-game sweep of the season series between the teams. St. John’s also won back on February 6 by a score of 85-57.
The Blue Demons kept the score close within 24-22 and the Red Storm went on a 30-6 run in a span of 8 minutes and 19 seconds. St. John’s led by as many as 44 and shot 60.3 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from 3-point range. DePaul connected on 50.9 percent of its shots overall and went 10-17 from three point range.
Simeon Wilcher had 12 points, while Daniss Jenkins, Nahiem Alleyne and RJ Luis Jr. tallied 11 points each for St. John’s. Chico Carter Jr. led DePaul with a game-high 23 points.
St. John’s had won four straight games and look to continue their winning streak against Georgetown Saturday at Madison Square Garden.
