Top-seeded USC scores a convincing win over eighth-seeded Kansas 73-55 in the second round of the Women’s NCAA Tournament Portland 3 Region. JuJu Watkins, who scored a game-high 28 points and tallied 11 rebounds.
Watkins put up five straight points late in the third quarter after Kansas pulled to within one point. The trojans went on a 16-3 run that extended deep into the fourth period and pull out the win. USC outscored Kansas in the final quarter 20-9.
Kansas shot just 3 of 10 from 3-point range and 20 of 56 from the field. S’Mya Nichols led Kansas with 22 points. Taiyanna Jackson had 18 rebounds along with 10 points, three steals and two blocked shots.
Southern California will be heading to the Sweet 16 for the first first time since 1994. The Trojans meet will fifth-seeded Baylor on Saturday in Portland, Oregon.
