In a draft class that features the most talked about prospect since Zion Williamson, Victor Wembemyama, Scoot Henderson is confident in his talent that will get him the #1 overall selection.
In a recent interview with GQSports, Scoot Henderson had this to say about this year’s draft, “I think I should go one. I know I’m gonna go one”.
The 6’2” 19 year old guard averaged 17.6 points, 6.4 assists, 5.1 rebounds, and 1.2 steals while appearing in 25 games for the G League Ignite. Henderson’s inconsistent play and absences due to injury have opened the door for him to slip from his projected No. 2 selection.
His unreal athletic ability combined with elite court vision and strong finishing ability protects his case as one of the best prospects in the draft. Scouts have described his explosive first step to the likes of Ja Morant and Derrick Rose. His 6-foot-9 wingspan allows him to make up for his lack of height and provide plenty of defensive upside and potential.
The teams currently projected to hold the top 4 spots are the Pistons, Rockets, Spurs, and Hornets. Out of these listed teams, the Spurs would be the most ideal fit due to the other listed teams being guard heavy. Henderson’s shooting and other flaws showed this season playing for
the Ignite and so having a Hall Of Fame coach in Gregg Poppovich will help aid him in his development to stardom.
Henderson(not injury related) was shut down for the remainder of the G League Campaign in preparation for the 2023 NBA Draft.
