Current Look at the Houston Rockets

With the NBA draft right around the corner and the Houston Rockets drafting at number two I believe that this team should select Jalen Green out of the G-league for the simple fact that this team needs someone who can control the typo and run the team. Why does this make sense because this Rockets team has a go to score in Kevin Porter JR who averaged 17 points per game and is only going to get better with more playing time and more experience added to his game, another player I can’t help but mention is the emergence of Christian Wood who would have become a all star had it not been for a injury that kind of threw off his rhythm this season.

Why there is hope for this rockets team is, this team is composed by players who are just trying to make a roster spot and prove themselves players such as Jae’sean Tate and Kenyon Martin and I’ve become huge fans of these two as they play their hearts out and leave it on the floor each and every night and those are the type of players that you need on your team if your trying to build a championship caliber team. Now this team does need more young talent as the Houston Rockets had the worst record in the NBA now how to do that is by trading or buying out point guard John Wall who showed this season he still has something left in the tank and can be a contributor on any team in the NBA and also get rid off the older players on this roster because this Rockets team is clearly in a rebuild situation now I do believe that this team will be back in the playoffs very soon because Houston is a destination that lots of free agents like to play for the Houston Rockets so it’s going to be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

Now if your a Rockets fan you kind of need some luck in order to turn around this franchise for the simple reason that your composed of a head coach who entering his second season and a roster that is mainly made up of very young players, but when there’s a will there’s a way what do i mean by this information me personally I would keep this young core together and build within it but this roster does have talent it’s just a ,matter of what system these players are in and that will be up to head coach Stephen Silas who I have major believe in and Stephen Silas will get things turned around.

Rebuilding in the west in not easy at all now why am I mentioning this information because this season we as fans saw the Houston Rockets suffer twenty straight losses and if you know anything about the Western conference in the NBA is that each and every year those teams within the conference are coming back better than prime example of this is the Memphis Grizzlies who were nobody’s last season now this season the won a playoff game. With the details I’ve just provided you with, that just shows the Houston Rockets should be a better team than they were last season.

The Houston Rockets have two young superstar players in the making and those two players I happen to speaking about are Christian Wood and Kevin Porter now the two didn’t see the floor that much together mainly due to Christian Woods injury, but while Wood was absent Kevin Porter showed the world how much of a scoring machine he really is. What do I mean? Kevin Porter the 6’6 shooting guard out of USC had games this season scoring over 50, 30 and had multiple twenty plus games now the key for Porter to take his game to the next level is improving his numbers from the three point line as we saw his shoot only 32 percent from behind the line so that needs to improve, but with him and Christian Wood as our cornerstone players for the future this should be interesting.

Surrounding these young players with veterans will be important as well mainly because when your a young player and losing occurs it becomes natural to feel down and not wanna go out there and perform at your best, because we all know that the Rockets are going to be bad for the next two years at least which is why their needs to be a veteran presence on this team because as Kareem Abdual-Jabbar has mentioned on several occasion that before you learn to win you must first learn to lose.

The NBA Draft why is this important because the Houston Rockets hold the number two pick in this draft now me personally I believe that the Rockets should select Jalen Green with this pick now why am I saying this because Jalen Green is a bouncy player who has a lot of athleticism now the thing with Green is he has to improve his jump shot because in the NBA players aren’t going to let you get to the rim so easily. Another reason why the Rockets need to draft Green is he’s a team player as even some of his teammates have said that he’s the first one in and the last one to leave.

Now a trade that the rockets should have done was the Ben Simmions trade for the simple fact that with Simmions yes he can’t shoot but he can do everything else and on the Rockets team he could have played the five position and I really think that would have helped this team. Put Simmions at the five position and surround him with nothing but shooters kinda like what the Orlando Magic did with A prime Dwight Howard and we all saw the out of that playstyle it got that team all the way to the NBA finals but we will never know because the rockets didnt wanna make that trade.

When looking at this Houston Rockets team there’s hope because we have a lot going for themselves a young and talented core. The NBA draft that’s right around the corner a head coach who is hard nosed and hard working then you have a young and emerging core that likes playing with each other and there only going to get better so you have to be very intrigued and I can’t wait to see what this Houston Rockets team does in the future because only time will tell and the future is very bright.
