Marquette bounces back from their loss to Wisconsin and blows out Texas 86-65. Tyler Kolek led Marquette with 28 points and Kam Jones netted 17 points.
The Golden Eagles hit a season-high 14 3-pointers on 30 attempts against Texas. Jones went 5 for 8 while Kolek 4 for 9 beyond the arc. Kolek shot 11 – 16 from the field and had six assists. In addition, he had eight rebounds.
Max Abmas led Texas with 25 points including 10-19 shooting from the field. Chendall Weaver had 10 points for the Longhorns.
This is the first time Marquette head coach Shaka Smart faced against his former program in which he coached for six seasons. Smart had a 109 – 86 record at Texas in which he appeared in three NCAA Tournaments and a NIT Championship in 2019.
