ESPN reported that Portland Trail Blazers center Robert Williams III will undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee.
Williams injured his kneecap and ligaments during Portland’s 112-100 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.
He is expected to undergo the procedure early next week and be recovered for the start of the 2024-25 season. Williams was acquired from the Boston Celtics with Malcolm Brogdon in the Jrue Holiday trade back on October 1st.
This is a big blow to the Blazers in which you made this deal along with Brogdon. Williams still has two seasons remaining on a 4-year, $48 million deal he signed with the Celtics in 2022. He has averaged 6.8 points and 6.3 rebounds in six games coming off the bench this season.
