Mississippi State beats Arizona State in the Season Opener

Mississippi State defeated the Arizona State Devils to 71 – 56 in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday night in Chicago.

Trey Fort scored 21 points for the Bulldogs while Jimmy Bell Jr. tallied 13 points and Dashawn Davis scored 10 points. Kamari Lands had 13 points and Frankie Collins scored 10 to lead Arizona State. 

In the second half, Mississippi State increased the lead to 53-28 and Arizona State scored six straight points. However Jimmy Bell’s basket and Cameron Matthews two free throws send the lead to 23 points.

Arizona State had a 10-9 lead before Mississippi State went on a 17-4 run that gave the Bulldogs a 26-14 lead. The lead was 39-18 at halftime and never look back. 

Arizona State next game will be against Texas Southern at home on Saturday November 11. While Mississippi State will also open up at home against UT Martin.
