The Fever edge the Sparks in a Hollywood Thriller

The Indiana Fever kicked off their West Coast trip in dramatic fashion, sneaking past the Los Angeles Sparks 76–75 in a game that went down to the wire. Both teams came into the night desperate for a win to stay alive in the playoff chase, and the battle lived up to the stakes.

The Fever entered short-handed, missing superstar rookie Caitlin Clark due to injury and losing guard Aari McDonald for the season with a torn ACL. That opened the door for a familiar name in Los Angeles — Odyssey Sims. The veteran guard, who once suited up for the Sparks before being waived earlier this year, returned to her old home floor with a point to prove.

For most of the night, the Sparks had the upper hand. They led 74–71 with less than two minutes left, seemingly in control. But Sims turned the game on its head. First, she drilled a clutch three-pointer from downtown to tie it. Then, with 13.6 seconds remaining, she drove to the basket and delivered the go-ahead score that stunned the Sparks’ crowd.

Aliyah Boston once again carried the load for Indiana, finishing with a dominant double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds. Her steady presence in the paint gave the Fever the balance they needed to finish the upset.

For Los Angeles, the loss couldn’t have come at a worse time. The Sparks now sit a game and a half behind the Valkyries for the final playoff spot, and their margin for error is shrinking fast.

Meanwhile, the Fever leave Los Angeles with momentum and the confidence of knowing that even without Clark, they can rise to the challenge. And for Odyssey Sims, it was a storybook night — coming back to L.A. and breaking the Sparks’ hearts.
