Jackie Young’s First Career Triple-Double Powers Aces Past Red-Hot Sparks

On Tuesday night in Los Angeles, the Las Vegas Aces spoiled the Sparks’ recent surge with a dominant 89–74 victory, fueled by Jackie Young’s first career triple-double.

The Sparks entered the matchup riding a five-game winning streak and had closed within a game of a WNBA playoff spot. Meanwhile, the Aces were wrapping up a four-game road trip after dropping 106 points in Dallas on Sunday.

Las Vegas wasted no time setting the tone, racing out to a 26–9 lead in the first seven minutes and twenty seconds. A’ja Wilson delivered a career-high 17 points in the opening quarter alone, helping the Aces cruise to a 15-point lead after one. By halftime, Las Vegas maintained a 48–34 advantage.

In the second half, Jackie Young took over. The guard posted 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, marking her first career triple-double and solidifying the Aces’ control of the game. Wilson, who set the early pace, continued to anchor the team as Las Vegas never allowed the Sparks to mount a serious comeback.

The Sparks struggled offensively throughout the night. Rookie standout Rickea Jackson was held to a season-low 6 points on just 2-of-10 shooting. Los Angeles also went cold from beyond the arc, connecting on only 4-of-24 attempts (16%).

With the win, the Aces closed their road trip on a high note, extending their push for playoff positioning, while the Sparks will need to regroup as they continue their chase for a postseason berth.
