BYU has landed one of the top players in the transfer portal, securing a commitment from Robert Wright, a 6-foot-1 point guard who spent his freshman season in the Big 12. Wright averaged 11.5 points and 4.2 assists over 35 games, earning 21 starts and a spot on the Big 12 All-Freshman Team during the 2024–25 season.
Wright notably posted 22 points and six assists in a standout performance against BYU earlier this season — now, he’ll suit up for the Cougars as they look to retool following the departure of Egor Demin, who announced he will enter the 2025 NBA Draft as a projected lottery pick.
With Wright expected to fill the void left by Demin, BYU’s backcourt could become one of the most dynamic in college basketball, especially if veteran guard Richie Saunders returns for his senior year. Add in incoming top recruit AJ Dybantsa, and the Cougars could boast one of the most talented trios in the nation.
