ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia Bulldogs forward Asa Newell, a 6-foot-11 freshman standout, officially announced Wednesday on Instagram that he will enter the 2025 NBA Draft. A projected first-round pick, Newell brings a versatile skill set, elite size, and proven performance to this year’s draft class.
“After spending time in prayer and seeking guidance, I have made the decision to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft,” Newell shared with his followers. “Go Dawgs!”
Newell averaged 15.4 points and 6.9 rebounds per game during his freshman campaign at Georgia, quickly establishing himself as one of the top young big men in the country. His efficient play was highlighted by a 54.3% shooting percentage from the field, earning him All-Freshman honors in the SEC.
Before his college career, Newell was a nationally ranked recruit out of the prestigious Montverde Academy in Montverde, Florida — a program known for producing elite NBA talent.
With his unique blend of size, athleticism, and skill, Newell has caught the attention of NBA scouts and front offices. His ability to stretch the floor, protect the rim, and finish around the basket makes him one of the most intriguing bigs in the 2025 class.
As Georgia fans thank him for an incredible season in Athens, all eyes now turn to the NBA, where Asa Newell’s journey continues.
