The Associated Press reported that Jamal Murray has agreed to a four-year, $208 million maximum contract extension with the Denver Nuggets. The new deal will keep him in Denver for the next five seasons. He will earn $36 million this coming season before it goes up to $46.5 million next season when the extension goes into effect.
Murray has been injured throughout the 2023-24 season as well as in the postseason. Including, the 2021-22 season in which he out due to a torn ACL. He came back the 2022-23 season to help lead the Denver Nuggets to an NBA Championship.
He had a disappointing run in the Olympics for the Canadian National Team this past Summer. Murray averaged just 6 points per game at the Olympics and shot below 30% from the floor and 15% from three point range.
Murray extension has been in the works for months, will keep him with the Nuggets through the 2028-29 season. He is the franchise’s all-time leader in 3-pointers, and averaged a career-best 21.2 points and 6.5 assists last season.
