Indiana Pacers guard T.J. McConnell agreed to a four-year, $45 million contract extension through 2028-29 season. It brings McConnell’s contract to $54 million over five years as he will still make $9.3 million this season.
McConnell had been under contract for $9.3 million for the 2024-25 season. He had his best season ever averaging with 10.2 points, 5.5 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game this past season. During his career, he has averaged 7.5 points, 5.1 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 627 career games.
McConnell’s extension was a part in which the Pacers we’re trying to build on their run from the Eastern Conference finals. Their playoff starters this season and their three reserves are all under contract through at least the 2026-27 season. Tyrese Haliburton signed a five-year max deal for $245 million in July of 2023. Aaron Nesmith last year signed a three-year deal worth $33 million that also kicks in this year.
Pascal Siakam signed a four-year deal for $189 million. Obi Toppin signed a four-year deal that is $60 million. Guard Andrew Nembhard signed a three-year extension worth $59 million that will go into effect next season. McConnell’s extension will transition next season and is in the salary cap for $171 for the 2024-25 season.
