The defending back-to-back national champion Connecticut Huskies got a commitment from 2024 5-Star Liam McNeeley. The 6-foot-7 shooter had de-committed from Indiana last month. UConn was his only visit since he was let out of his national letter of intent. McNeeley announced his commitment on his Instagram page. “I’m dialed in from Storrs,”!
McNeeley helped led Montverde Academy to a National Championship and a 33-0 record this past season. He averaged 12.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals.
McNeeley told ESPN “(UConn) felt like a perfect fit.” “Coach (Dan) Hurley is a hard-nosed coach. That’s the kind of coach I thrive under. The offensive system that they run is perfect for my game. The culture of the team, the sets they run; they are going to help me get better on both sides of the ball. The whole coaching staff are good people.”
The Richardson, Texas native also considered Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan and other schools. He will help fill the vacancy left by Tristen Newton and Cam Spencer, two of UConn’s starters last year who have each run out of college eligibility.
