Simeon Wilcher, a four-star high school prospect who decommitted from North Carolina, will play for Rick Pitino at St. John’s, multiple reports said Monday. The 6-foot-4, point guard has given the Johnnie’s a boost in the recruiting class.
Pitino has brought in a couple of key recruits this offseason, mostly through the transfer portal of Nahiem Alleyne from UConn and Jordan Dingle from Penn.
This is Pitino’s 12th addition to the roster for the 2023-24 season in which he continues to build this roster. St. John’s had an 18-15 record in 2022-23 season. With Wilcher acquisition to St. John’s, this may start the resurgence of the program since the early 2000’s.
