ESPN Adrian Wojnarowski has been informed by Excel Sports Management, Matas Buzelis agency that he has officially signed with the G League developmental team. This past season Buzelis averaged 15.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.6 blocks and shooting 53.7 percent from the field, including 43.1 percent from 3-point range at Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas.
Buzelis led the Sunrise Christian to the Final Four of GEICO Nationals this past season. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Basketball Without Borders Global Camp, played in the McDonald’s All-American Game, and on the World team in the Nike Hoop Summit.
“It’s a dream come true to join Ignite,” Buzelis said. “I have the opportunity to develop in a professional system as I continue to strive toward my goal of playing in the NBA. I look forward to joining the team in Henderson and getting to work. I want to thank my coaches, trainers and teammates for preparing me for this opportunity. Buzelis is projected as the number one overall pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. He will follow the torch from the G-League Ignite such as the likes of Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Dyson Daniels and Scoot Henderson this upcoming draft as well as Sidy Cissoko. 2022.
Buzelis joins Thierry Darlan, London Johnson, Dink Pate and Babacar Sane on the teams roster to prepare for the NBA Draft. The G-League Ignite has had a total of six NBA Draft picks in the last two years which is identical for a program that period.
