Every NBA season brings a new class of rookies looking to prove they belong. Summer League gave us a first look, but the real challenge begins when the regular season tips off. Some players are ready to contribute immediately, while others have the talent to become stars with time.
These rankings are based on what I’ve seen from each player’s skill set, confidence, opportunity, and overall potential heading into their rookie season. This list will change throughout the year, but here’s my early Top 10 Rookie Power Rankings.
Top 10 Rookie Power Rankings
1. AJ Dybantsa – AJ Dybantsa takes the top spot because he has all the tools to become a franchise player. He can score from anywhere on the floor, defend multiple positions, and has the confidence to take over games. He looks ready for the spotlight and has the highest ceiling in this rookie class.
2. Darryn Peterson – Peterson is one of the most complete guards in this draft. He creates offense for himself and his teammates, plays under control, and doesn’t seem afraid of big moments. If he earns major minutes early, he could be in the Rookie of the Year conversation.
3. Cameron Boozer-Boozer plays with maturity beyond his years. He rebounds, scores inside, can stretch the floor, and understands the game. Every team values players who make winning plays, and that’s exactly what he brings.
4. Caleb Wilson – Wilson’s athleticism jumps off the screen. He has the versatility to guard multiple positions while continuing to improve offensively. As his confidence grows, he could become one of the biggest surprises in this class.
5. Kingston Flemings – Flemings impressed me with his scoring ability and fearless approach. He attacks defenders, creates shots, and plays with energy. If he becomes more consistent, he’ll climb these rankings quickly.
6. Meleek Thomas – Thomas has a smooth offensive game and showed he can score in different ways. He’s aggressive without forcing the action and has the talent to become a dependable contributor from day one.
7. Labaron Philon Jr. – Every team needs a point guard who makes smart decisions, and Philon fits that role. He controls the pace, gets teammates involved, and rarely looks rattled. His basketball IQ could help him earn valuable minutes early.
8. Chris Cenac Jr. – Cenac has tremendous size, mobility, and defensive potential. He protects the rim, rebounds well, and continues to improve offensively. As he develops physically, his impact should continue to grow.
9. Mikel Brown Jr. – Brown is an exciting young guard with excellent ball-handling and court vision. He creates opportunities for teammates while also being capable of scoring when needed. He’s a player who could surprise a lot of people this season.
10. Koa Peat-Peat rounds out my Top 10 because of his toughness, strength, and competitive mindset. He plays hard every possession and does many of the little things coaches appreciate. Those winning habits often lead to bigger opportunities.
This rookie class has tremendous talent from top to bottom, and these rankings will likely change as the season unfolds. Injuries, playing time, coaching decisions, and player development will all play a role in who rises and who falls.
Right now, AJ Dybantsa sits at the top of my list, but don’t be surprised if players like Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer, or even someone outside this Top 10 makes a huge jump. Every season has a breakout rookie that nobody sees coming.
