Prolific Prep Survives Double-Overtime Classic Against Paul VI at National HS Hoops Festival

Prolific Prep and Paul VI put on a show at the National High School Hoops Festival, battling through regulation and two overtime periods in a game that felt like it might never end. Every possession mattered. Every rebound was a fight. And when it was finally over, Prolific Prep walked away with a hard-earned double-overtime victory that will be remembered long after the final horn.

From my seat, the intensity was unreal. Paul VI refused to go away, answering every run with poise and toughness. But Prolific Prep showed exactly why they’re one of the nation’s premier programs—resilience, composure, and star power when it mattered most.

Caleb Holt was the heartbeat of the game. He delivered a complete, championship-level performance and deservedly earned Game MVP honors. Holt finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals, making plays on both ends when fatigue could have easily taken over. His energy never dipped, even deep into the second overtime.

Bruce Branch III stepped up in big moments, contributing 19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocks. His versatility and decision-making were crucial, especially when the game slowed down and execution became everything. Nas Anderson added key production as well, posting 13 points and 7 rebounds, providing timely scoring and physicality inside.

Paul VI was equally impressive and showed why they’re a national powerhouse. Brian Mitchell Jr. was unstoppable at times, pouring in 31 points and 8 rebounds, attacking relentlessly and keeping his team within striking distance throughout both overtime periods. Jordan Smith Jr. was steady and impactful, finishing with 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 5 assists, making clutch plays and leading with confidence.

This wasn’t just a win—it was a test of endurance, toughness, and belief. Prolific Prep passed that test in the most dramatic way possible.

Games like this are why high school basketball matters. Talent, heart, and competition all wrapped into one unforgettable night in D.C.
