Maryland Scores Big with Baba Oladotun Commitment

Maryland men’s basketball just landed a massive win on the recruiting trail.

Five-star forward Baba Oladotun, one of the top prospects in the 2026 class, has officially committed to the Terrapins. The 6-foot-10 standout chose Maryland over Georgetown, Kentucky, and Arkansas, giving Coach Buzz Williams and his staff one of the most significant commitments in recent program history.

Oladotun’s recruitment heated up quickly after he reclassified from the 2027 class to 2026 back in August. The reclassification opened the door for high-major programs to pursue him aggressively, and Maryland wasted no time. The Terps hosted him on his first official visit in September—a trip that ultimately laid the foundation for his decision.

In the end, Oladotun said the choice came down to two local schools: Maryland and Georgetown. What pushed the Terps over the top was the deep personal connection built throughout the process.

“I chose Maryland because of the relationship I built with Coach Buzz and the entire coaching staff—[it] means a lot to me, and it’s close to home,” Oladotun said. “I really appreciate how much effort they put into getting to know my family. My two older sisters go there, and being so close brings so many opportunities. All my trainers and my entire support system are here.”

A uniquely skilled forward with length, mobility, and advanced offensive tools, Oladotun brings tremendous upside to Maryland’s frontcourt. His ability to stretch the floor, finish above the rim, and defend multiple positions has earned him national attention and solidified him as one of the top prospects in his class.

For Maryland, this commitment is more than a win—it’s a statement. Keeping an elite local talent home signals that Coach Buzz and his staff are building serious momentum on the recruiting trail.

With Oladotun committed early, expect the Terps to continue assembling a strong 2026 class built around one of the most versatile forwards in the country.
