The New York Liberty Open West Coast Road Trip with Big Win Over the Sparks

The New York Liberty kicked off their three-game West Coast road trip in style, taking down the Los Angeles Sparks 105–97 on Tuesday night. Behind hot shooting and balanced scoring, the Liberty showed why they remain one of the league’s top contenders.

New York caught fire offensively, shooting better than 50 percent from both the floor and three-point range. All five starters scored in double figures, keeping the Sparks on their heels all night long. Jonquel Jones delivered a dominant performance, posting a double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the charge.

Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney, and Courtney Vandersloot all chipped in with timely baskets, giving the Liberty a well-rounded attack that proved too much for Los Angeles to handle.

Despite the loss, the Sparks battled hard. Kelsey Plum kept them within striking distance, leading all scorers with 26 points. However, the Liberty’s depth and efficiency ultimately wore them down in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory.

With the win, the Liberty improve their road record and gain momentum heading into the next two games of their West Coast swing. For Los Angeles, it was another tough night against an elite opponent, though Plum’s performance was a bright spot for the home crowd.

New York now looks ahead to the next stop on their trip, aiming to build on this strong start and continue climbing in the standings.
