Long Beach State beats USC 79-74 in Bronny James debut

Marcus Tsohonis scored a game-high 28 points to help Long Beach State defeat USC in overtime in front of a sold out Galen Center. This is the first time the 49ers beat USC since 1987.

This game featured Bronny James college basketball debut since less than five months after going into cardiac arrest during a preseason workout in late July. Doctors cleared James to return to basketball on Nov. 30.

James played 16 minutes in which he finished with four points, three rebounds, two assists and a block shot. His dad Lebron, sister Zurich, and his grandmother Gloria was in attendance court side to watch Bronny.

USC lead 45-30 at halftime and led as many by 17 points. Long Beach State outscore the Trojans 44-29 second half and 10-5 in overtime. Jadon Jones scored 18 points and had 8 rebounds while AJ George added 12 points and four blocked shots for Long Beach State.

USC struggled at the free-throw line shooting 20-36 overall including 3-6 in the overtime. Also the Trojans had 19 turnovers. 

Isaiah Collier had 15 points and five steals;  Vincent Iwuchukwu also had 15 points for USC. In addition, Boogie Ellis scored 14 points in the loss.
