Mikey Williams remains not around the Memphis basketball program 


University of Memphis guard Mikey Williams remains away from the team after his arrest this past April on felony weapons charges. The school said that he won’t rejoin the team until his legal process is complete.

The university stated that “The process to assess and determine his status with the team will be initiated at that time.” The team held its first practice Tuesday and opens the season November 6th against Jackson State.

Williams who is a top recruit from San Diego, California is enrolled in online classes at this time. Williams is still on the roster however, he does not have access to team facilities or activities. 

He has a preliminary hearing scheduled for October 10th for multiple felony charges related to the shooting incident this past April. According to police, he allegedly fired a gun at a carload of people who had just left his residence.
