Tre Johnson Looking to Keep His Top Billing for 2024

Tre Johnson a 6-foot-6 Shooting Guard from Lake Highlands High School in the Dallas, Texas area. He is the consensus number one overall prospect for the Class of 2024. He is highly being recruited by Kentucky, Duke, Texas, and Baylor. 

LeBron James and Kevin Durant have been taking notice to Johnson’s game. He even got to work out with Durant and often keeps in touch with him. Johnson is a future lottery pick and his game sky’s the limit. 

Tre is an excellent scorer who can get buckets on anyone. He averaged 22.3 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. He is shooting 51 percent from the field, 38 percent on three-point attempts and 91 percent on free throws. He’s quick and is a great handler plays and can break down defenders at will.

Johnson led Lake Highlands to the Texas 6A Championship with a 34-3 record for the 2022-23 season. In addition, he was named Mr. Basketball Player of the Year for the state of Texas. 

Back on March 29 new Texas Head Coach Rodney Terry went to see Tre Johnson. Also, he made an official visit to Kentucky this past January. Back in October of 2022, he made an official visit to Baylor and to Texas in September 2022. On May 5th will he visiting Kansas. 

Tre’s father Richard Johnson Jr. was a standout player as well. His father started his basketball career at Baylor before transferring to Midwestern State. During his college career he scored over 1,100 points.  He said about his son “You know from day one, we planned to be here, but we didn’t know how it was going to happen or when it was going to happen. So us being here, it’s kind of exciting, but we kind of handled it like it’s what we expected,”

Wildcats head coach Joe Duffield said about Johnson “When the lights come on, [when] it’s a big game and it’s a big moment, he is always ready and he’s always delivered. He has been doing that since he was young.”

Tre Johnson will be playing for Houston Hoops on the Nike circuit this summer. He will be projected to be the top player on the recruiting services.
